Tribute

Wayne Parker Shaw died on February 27 in Fort Myers, Florida after a brief battle with cancer. Wayne was born in Grand Rapids on July 26, 1960.

Raised at Park Congregational Church, Wayne loved God, and growing closer to God over the years was important to him.

Wayne had a lifetime love of cooking, was an excellent chef and found joy in serving others and sharing recipes. He spent his entire life in the food service industry and owned a catering company in New Jersey at one time. Wayne had a deep love for dogs and cats that added smiles to his day. He especially loved his cat Blondie. Wayne also loved the Rolling Stones, especially Mick Jagger, who shared his birthday. He was also comforted by his many Creston Alumni friends after his cancer diagnosis. One of Wayne’s greatest qualities was his genuine gift for appreciating others in a way that was hard to match.

Wayne is survived by his twin sister Karen (Shaw) Bouwman, nephew Alan Bouwman, uncles John (Chris) Parker and Jim (Cheryl) Parker. He is predeceased by his parents Elaine and Frank Shaw, uncle Tom Parker and his beloved cat Blondie.

A memorial service is scheduled for May 20 at 11 am with visitation from 10-11 am at First Congregational Church, 403 S Jefferson Ave, Saginaw Michigan. A luncheon will be served after the service. Those wishing to offer an expression of sympathy are encouraged to make a memorial contribution to the Michigan Humane in his memory.
