Waasy Thomas Franks, Sr., 91, of Fort Myers passed on to heaven Thursday, July 12, 2018, surrounded in prayer by his loving family. Waasy was born on August 10, 1926, in Mayport, FL., and was preceded in death by his beloved wife Carmel Floyd Franks and his son Waasy Thomas Franks, Jr.
Waasy grew up in the fishing village of Mayport where he was a commercial fisherman by trade and joined the merchant marines and served his country during both World War II and the Korean War. He married Carmel in 1950 and eventually moved to Fort Myers a few years later.
Waasy was a loving father to his daughters Carmelaine (Dennis) Boddison, and Mary Julaine (Michael) Volk. He was an amazing "Papa" to his grandchildren Celena (Steven) Fusco, Donnie Cowart, Dennis (Julie) and Waasy (Anne) Boddison and six great grandchildren: Austin, Emily, Chase, John, Gavin and Ava.
Waasy, along with his son, Waasy, Jr., will be interred at a Catholic graveside service to commence on Saturday, July 21st, at 11am at the Mayport Cemetery on Sand Castle Ln, Mayport, FL.
