ROSEMARY SACCARO
Rosemary Saccaro, 78, a long-time Staten Islander residing in Ft. Myers, Florida, died on March 18, 2018, after a battle with Lewy-Body Dementia.
Born to Gerhard and Rose Nitsche, Rosemary was raised on Staten Island, NY. She graduated from Notre Dame College (which became St. John’s University) and the College of Staten Island, earning a bachelors and masters degree in education, with an Arts specialty.
Throughout her life, Rosemary was an active and gifted teacher, artist, and community member. She established her own design firm called R Designs, where she brought her artistic talents to life in interior decorating. Rosemary made the world around her more beautiful - with her paintings, her devotion to gardening, and her connections with friends, new and old, many of which were formed while playing bridge, golf, and travelling around the world.
Above all, Rosemary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend who made everyone feel loved, cherished and special.
Rosemary is survived by the love of her life, her husband Dr. Kenneth Saccaro; her daughter Mary Ferris (and son-in-law Jim); her son Jay Saccaro (and daughter-in-law Jane); her beloved grandchildren Jared, Samantha and James Ferris; and Jack, Kate and Sam Saccaro; her sister Gail Gardella; and many treasured brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service is planned for Thursday, March 22nd at 10:30am at the St. Columbkille Church, 12171 Iona Rd, Fort Myers, FL 33908. An additional memorial service is planned for Saturday, April 21st at 11:15am at St. Ann’s Church, 101 Cromwell Ave, Staten Island, NY 10304.
