Michael Marc Landry

On May 23rd, 2023, Michael departed this Earth after a long struggle with heart disease. He is survived by his wife Karen, a son and a daughter, his mother Carol, mother in law Teresa and father in law Nelson. Oh, and way too many cats, for which he had a heart for. 

Those are the facts. 

If I, his son, did not keep a sense of humor while writing this, I would be dishonoring the spirit of how he lived. Our family is all still grieving, but I hope that we who knew him well, and those to whom this comes as a surprise take solace in the laughter, and the good times.

Michael grew up in Massachusetts, the son of a successful carpenter, Jean-Marc, and his wife the business bookkeeper, Carol.

At an early age Michael fell in love with music, and enjoyed playing bass. This was much to his father's chagrin as he got to 'enjoy' Smoke on the Water on repeat for many, many days, and to his mother's delight that he was pursuing an interest to him. He also loved collaborating with other musicians until he finally settled on mixing and mastering tracks.

However, music wasn't the greatest love of his life. His high school sweetheart, and wife of 40 years, Karen was.

If we could learn anything from my father, it was what a real marriage looks like. Believe me, it is very far from what you see on social media as the 'ideal' marriage. Karen and Michael embodied the very essence of 'for better or for worse,' and sadly now, 'until death do us part.' Together, they could overcome any of the struggles in life while giving their children the best opportunities they could to feel loved and succeed.

Michael's interests and hobbies over his time here were as big as his heart. From being a HAM Radio enthusiast, to a bulletin board operator at the forefront of the early Internet. He always had his nose into something that held his interest and when he did, he became the best anyone could be at it. Challenging himself was part of the fun and no one was his own worst critic than himself.

Michael would not have wanted much of an obituary, much less a funeral, or any sort of pomp and circumstance when he left this world. His peace was made with God and he knew where he was going. His thoughts would only be for the happiness of those left behind. 

I can safely say that his best wishes are for all those who loved him. So, please! Go out there and celebrate a life well lived, a family well raised, and all of the good times, bad times, and experiences shared throughout his life. However, he would never deny anyone the need to grieve, as he knew the pain of loss all too well.
