Jacqueline M Vaughn

February 24, 1945 ~ October 6, 2017 (age 72) 72 Years Old
Jacqueline (Jackie) Mills Vaughn, RN, 72, of North Fort Myers, Florida went home to her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 6, 2017 after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on February 24, 1945 to Joseph Mills and Rita Cardinal Mills. Jackie attended St. Patrick's Grammar and High School, graduating in 1963. She went on to earn her LPN and later her RN from Massachusetts General Hospital where she worked for several years before relocating to Florida. She worked as a dialysis nurse before moving into her chosen field of Public Health in Lee County. She ran the immunization program in Lee County for many years and loved her work. She touched many lives and was loved by all.

Her church, St. Cecelia's in Fort Myers, was her first love, and she dedicated her life to her work there as a Eucharistic Minister and Sacristan, as well as many other volunteer opportunities.

Her love for animals, especially her cat, Ollie, is well known. She would stop traffic to rescue turtles crossing the road, as well as stray kittens and many other animals. She also volunteered at the local animal rescue. She loved visiting the Peace River Wildlife Center in Punta Gorda and introduced it to many family and friends. She could have almost been an official tour guide.

Jackie is survived by her sister, Elaine Mills of Methuen, MA; brother and sister in law, Joseph and Susan Mills of Ambler, PA; nephews Joseph Mills, Jr. and Gregory Mills of Maryland; special friends, Dorothy (Dottie) Wilcock of Methuen, Mary Roberts of Plaistow, NH; dear cousins John and Mary Lou Costello of Groveland, MA; and also many more beloved cousins.

In addition, she is survived by her loving church family at St. Cecelia Catholic Community who will miss her dearly.

The Memorial Mass for Jackie will be held at St. Cecelia's on October 21, 2017 at 10:00AM with interment immediately following in the St. Cecelia Memorial Garden.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Cecelia Catholic community, 5632 Sunrise Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33919; or to Hope Hospice at 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908; or to Peace River Wildlife Center, 3400 Ponce de Leon Parkway, Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
