Jacqueline M. Levy, 84, of Fort Myers, Florida, joined her heavenly Father on October 9, 2020. She had been a resident of Fort Myers for four years, having moved from her previous home in Wayne, New Jersey.
Jackie was born on September 22, 1936 in White Plains, New York to the late John Philip and Mildred Otte. She studied journalism at Hofstra University and earned her Bachelor's degree in English in 1957. During her life, Jackie developed her professional career in several areas. She was a reporter for Newsday, excelled in social work, and later became a successful sales consultant for Mary Kay.
Of all of her professional pursuits, art was her dearest endeavor. She had a great passion for mixed media using calligraphy combined with water colors earning recognition from the Miniature Art Society of New Jersey.
Jackie also took joy in her civic contributions and church service. She founded the Sonshine Committee at St. Michaels Church in Wayne, New Jersey, which distributes meals to ill and homebound residents in the area. She also co-founded "The Sign of the Fish", a christian fellowship for senior high through college age in home gatherings. Jackie was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and participated in the Civil Air Patrol. She was an avid supporter of FOWA (Friends of Wayne Animals), eventually adopting a cat of her own. Jackie served on the Board of Directors of Loving Grace Ministries, founded by the Rev. Wayne Monbleau. She will be remembered for her passionate service and care toward others.
Jackie is dearly missed by her loving husband of 62 years, John Levy, daughter, Elaine Schinski of Fort Myers, FL, son, James and his wife Kimberly Levy of Raleigh, NC, and two grandsons, Samuel and Benjamin - and of course, her beloved cat, Callie.
A private memorial service will be held in her honor.
