Gregory A O'Neill

Gregory O’Neill, 96, of Shellpoint Village, Fort Myers, FL, passed away peacefully on Sunday,
November 4, 2018. Gregory was a WWII Veteran; He was presented with the French Jubilee
of Liberty Medal for his participation in the Battle of Normandy and served as member of the
787th Army Petroleum Company. Upon his return from service he attended Washington University
and remained in U. S. Civil Service as a contract specialist in St. Louis, Mo. Greg is survived
by his spouse Claire O’Neill, son, Gregory O’Neill, Jr. (and Carol), daughters, Susan
O’Neill, and Kathleen Smid (and Michael Smid). He leaves eight grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by our mother Marjorie and son, Stephen O’Neill.
Our father dedicated himself to helping his family and those he loved. Greg relocated from
St. Louis to Sanibel Island in 1978. A mass celebrating Mr. O’Neill’s long and caring life will be
held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 16 at St. Isabel Catholic Church on Sanibel Island. In lieu of
