Frances Louise Cook, 67, of N. Fort Myers, FL, entered Heaven’s gate while surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 12, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born to the late Fred and Leola Walker on December 18, 1950 in Dixon, IL. Fran was the youngest of four children, Jim (LaVoy) Walker, Judi (Butch) DeVries and preceded in death, Bob Walker. She attended Forreston High School and was member of the graduating class of 1969.
Fran’s warm nature and infectious smile allowed her to leave a memorable impression on the lives of everyone she met. Family and friends were Fran’s passion and delight. She enjoyed hosting numerous gatherings especially over the holidays. Her motto in planning events was, “The more the merrier!” She was accepting of people and loved them well.
Fran married her loving husband and best-friend, Ron Cook, in 1985. Between the two of them they had 7 children that kept them busy. They lived in Granger, IN for 18 years, where she worked as an executive recruiter. There they enjoyed sailing and camping on Lake Michigan with family and friends. Because of her love for flowers, it was there that she started Silk Reflections, a silk flower shop where she used her creativity and eye for beauty to serve others. Fran and Ron enjoyed traveling and RV-ing. Many stories have been told about their adventures. Even one including their RV rolling into someone’s lawn. They lived a short time in LaGrange, GA where Fran started her real estate career. She continued her career as they moved south to warmer weather. Some of her best years were spent in N. Fort Myers, FL at Pine Lakes. She would comment, “See why we chose to move here?” to those that visited. Ron and Fran have been members of McGregor Baptist Church in Fort Myers, FL. She loved the people that she met. Being a realtor was a great way for Fran to engage her community. People loved her because she genuinely loved them. Her free-time was spent on the golf course and with friends.
Her life will be celebrated in the lives of her husband Ron, her children Francie (Rob) Brown, Bruce (Maia) Tidwell, Tracy (Nick) Friedrich, Mike Cook, Lisa (John) Morin, Mark Cook, and Teresa (Rusty) Wilkerson. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by grand-daughter, Marqui Cook.
Fran never met a stranger and always looked forward to time spent with people. Her smile and warm personality will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
The family will have a Memorial Service followed by a Celebration of Life for Fran, Friday October 12, 2018 beginning at 2:00pm, to be held in the clubhouse located at Pine Lakes Country Club, North Fort Myers. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations in honor of Fran to Hope Hospice Development Center, 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908. When sending please designate for the Cape Coral Center.
