Tribute

Charles (Chuck) Edward Nelson, age 70, of Estero, Florida, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018,
at Joanne’s House Hope Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved
husband of Dale Nelson of Estero. Chuck was born and grew up in New Milford, Connecticut. He was the son of the late Clarence Nelson and the late Marguerite (Dougall) Nelson. He is survived by his loving wife, Dale, his two daughters, Christie (& fiancé, Michael Hawkins) and Holly (& partner, Anthony Kress), his two grandsons, Derek and Sean Jr. Kennedy, his brother-in-law, Richard Hatch, his nieces, Rebecca Santangeli (& husband Michael & their daughters, Jillian and Avery), Suzanne Hatch (& partner, Matt), and numerous cousins. He was pre-deceased by his loving sister, Shirley Hatch.
He attended Henry Abbott Tech in Danbury Ct, where he excelled in the electrical field and eventually
established an electrical contracting business, as well as designing and building spec homes in
Connecticut. He and the family decided to move to Florida to enjoy the warmer weather and continue
his growing business interests. Besides the great beaches and boating that the Florida coast had to offer, he discovered an appreciation, in Muse, of the south Florida woodlands with its oak hammocks, towering slash pines, wildlife, and gator ponds. He became very fond of spending time at the “Tree House” sitting around the firepit with friends and family, and cooking meals in his amazingly constructed wood burning pizza oven. He was an avid reader, loved boating, gardening, and antique cars. His favorite books were Land Remembered by Patrick Smith & all of the James Michener novels, to name a few. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life on May 5, 2018 at 1 pm. at Dixie Road, Labelle (Muse) Florida, 33935.
