Steven Charles Wagner died peacefully at home on Thursday, August 31, 2017 in Fort Myers, Florida at the age of 46 years old.
Steve married his high school sweetheart, June 25, 1994, Allicia Yvonne Wagner (Datko). His wife of 23 years. He is also survived by his three children, Gregory Steven (22 years old), Jeremy Colin (19 years old) and Trey Allan (12 years old).
Steve was born on February 8, 1971 to Bruce Charles Wagner, Jr. and Carol Gardner Wagner. He had one sister, Lori LePard (Wagner). Steve graduated from Haverford Senior High School, Havertown, PA, Class of 1989 and holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Education with a Concentration in Social Studies from Millersville University, Millersville, PA, Class of 1993.
Steve taught High School Social Studies for over 20 years in various locations, including Ridley Senior High School, Folsom, Pennsylvania, Gateway Charter High School, Fort Myers, Florida and most recently at Lehigh Senior High School, Lehigh Acres, Florida. He was an amazing teacher and was loved by students and faculty alike.
Steve enjoyed spending all of his time with his wife and children. He grew up loving to run and swim. He taught swim lessons, spent his summers lifeguarding and managing swim clubs and taking care of his children. He was also a swim team coach and cross country coach. He was a volunteer coach for his children’s Soccer and Basketball teams. He ran several marathons and a triathlon. He was the Southwest Florida Running Coach for Team In Training for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Another of Steve’s favorite past times was working in the yard. He kept the lawn meticulous. He was an avid sports fan, and watched his Philadelphia Eagles with his kids every Sunday. He also liked following sporting events like the Tour de France and Wimbledon while he had off in the summer. He loved cats, and always had at least one cat in the house wherever he was. He was a self-described food lover, and would regularly google pictures of macaroni and cheese. He had an interest in architecture and collected and built LEGO Architecture sets.
A memorial service will be held, Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 3 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 3105 Broadway Fort Myers, Florida, 33901. A memorial service may be held in Pennsylvania at a later date and will be announced
