Albert Walter White Jr.

Albert Walter White, 89, of Sanibel, Fl., and a native of Canandaigua, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Jan. 11,2018 at the Pavilion on Shell Point, Ft. Myers. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Margaret Kennedy White, brother Edwin White of Winchester, Va., brother in law Bruce Kennedy of Canandaigua, N.Y., daughter Deborah (Robert) Rizzo of Emmaus, Pa. and Sanibel, Fl., Douglas White (Elizabeth) of Nebo, N.C. and daughter Allison (Jeff) Hoffman of Loveland, Oh., and six grandchildren: Emily White, Christopher Rizzo, Benjamin Hoffman, Sam Hoffman, Barrett White and Peter Hoffman. Albert is predeceased by his mother Helen (Smith), father Albert Sr. and brother Richard. Al and Margaret grew up together in Canandaigua, and they attended college at Syracuse University. Al graduated college in 1950, and spent 4 years in the Air Force. Al and Margie then returned to live in Canandaigua where they began raising their family. Thereafter, Al began a long and successful career with the accounting and consulting firm now known as Deloitte - Touché. Al served in various capacities, rising to Managing Partner of offices in Rochester and Buffalo, N.Y., Nashville and New Orleans, and retired as a Regional Partner in charge in 1989. Al and Margie began spending winters on the beach in Sanibel, while still enjoying summers on the lake in Canandaigua. Al has always been of service to every community that he has resided in. He held leadership positions with United Way, Rotary, the Sanibel Congregational Church of Christ and F.I.S.H. Al enjoyed life to the fullest, and his infectious smile will be remembered by everyone he met. He was most appreciative of time spent at Marble Lake (Cloyne), Ontario, Canada where he spent child-hood summers and continued his love of fishing with his children and grandchildren. Al was a loving, devoted and generous family man which extended to numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the Sanibel United Congregational Church on Sunday, Jan. 21 at 2:00 P.M. A memorial service will also be held in Canandaigua later this year. Donations can be made to his favorite charity F.I.S.H. of Sanibel at 2430 Periwinkle Way Sanibel, Fl. 33957 or the Sanibel Congregational UCC at 2050 Periwinkle Way Sanibel, FL 33957.
